TurboTax provides two-factor authentication (2FA) to enhance the security of your account, protecting sensitive tax information from unauthorized access. Enabling 2FA adds an extra layer of protection by requiring both your password and a second verification method to log in.
- Visit installturbotax.com website.
- Log in using your registered email and password.
- Once logged in, click on your profile icon or username in the upper-right corner.
- Select "Intuit Account" from the dropdown menu.
- In the Intuit Account menu, select the "Sign-in & Security" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Two-step verification" section.
- Click the "Turn On" or "Enable" button next to Two-step verification.
- Select your preferred method for receiving verification codes:
- Text Message (SMS): Enter your phone number and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Authenticator App (recommended for enhanced security): Follow the QR code instructions to connect your TurboTax account to your preferred authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator or Authy).
- After setting up 2FA, TurboTax will send you a verification code.
- Enter the code in the provided field to confirm and activate the security feature.
- TurboTax may provide recovery codes for backup access. Save these codes securely in case you lose access to your primary authentication method.
- Sign out of TurboTax and attempt to log in again.
- You should now be prompted for a verification code after entering your password.
